Announcing Deeptune's $43M Series A led by a16z

Thursday, March 19, 2026

Mastery does not come from knowledge alone. A surgeon doesn't learn to operate by reading textbooks. A pilot doesn't learn to fly by watching tutorials. The gap between knowing and doing is vast.

Today's AI models can pass nearly any exam you give them. But ask one to manage your inbox or close your books, and it falters. Not for lack of intelligence, but for lack of experience.

Deeptune creates high-fidelity simulations of the digital world; sandbox environments where AI agents improve at useful work through reinforcement learning. Since we started one year ago, our work has helped unlock remarkable progress. But there's still a lot of work to be done.

Labs and enterprises must turn model capability into real-world performance and revenue. Doing so will require distilling the entire economy into environments for AI. We believe this to be the most critical work in the pursuit of AGI.

Today, we're announcing our $43 million Series A, led by Andreessen Horowitz with participation from 776, Abstract Ventures, and Inspired Capital, and angels including Noam Brown (Research, OpenAI), Brendan Foody (CEO, Mercor), and Yash Patil (CEO, Applied Compute).

Our team is a small, focused team of engineers and operators from Anthropic, Scale AI, Palantir, Modal, Glean, Retool, and Hebbia. If you want to work on the hardest (and weirdest) problems of our time, we encourage you to reach out.

We're hiring in NYC. Join us: https://deeptune.com/careers
